Clothes Dryer Runs But No Heat
If Your dryer runs but it just won't get hot here is what you should know
Before you call a repairman you should know a little and check this first
I should mention this is regarding electric dryers- not gas. Your electric dryer plugs into 240 volts, but did you know that 240volts is only to operate the heater? Everything else- the motor and all the controls are only using 120 volts. When your dryer is not producing heat it could be a burned out heater coil or any of a number of things, but before you call the repairman you should check your breaker panel. Occasionally only one side of the 240 volt breaker will trip off. Often you can tell by looking that one switch is on and the other is off. If you see this you can take a grip on both switches. First push them both all the way to off and then push them over to on. If you have a weak breaker you will usually feel it under your grip. It will trip off as you are turning it on. Although there is a possibility there is a short circuit at the dryer there is a greater likelihood the breaker is weak. In the event you have a weak breaker you can have someone qualified to change it out for you or you can give me a call, and I can come out and change it for you!
