A Noisy Dryer Has An Easy Solution

Most clothes dryers with bumping and popping sounds can be resolved relatively easy and cost effectively.

In most cases a noisy dryer has been in service for many years before this happens. Listening to the noises may have you thinking this dryer is on its way  out. But in most cases the issue is with one or more of the support wheels. These are small wheels that resemble that which you might see on a baby buggy. And yes, they even have a rubber tire!

After many years of service the support wheel/ bearing will break and the whole drum shifts to one side and continually gets bounced upward by the broken wheel. Whenever this is the case, it has always been my best judgement to replace all the support wheels inside the machine along with a new idler pulley and drive belt. This repair brings the dryer's drive system back to like new and in most cases  once the repair has been done the dryer will go as long as it did the first time before having this problem. I have found that to be between 6  and 10 years, on average  and in some cases even more.

The cost for this repair is less than 25%  of what it would cost to purchase a new machine, which makes it a good value. The older machine was built better than the new ones. Also, we give the dryer a good cleaning inside, which helps to prevent lint fires and helps to prolong service of the new parts!
